Carbon removal

Providing solutions for hard to abate emissions

Some greenhouse gas emissions may prove to be very difficult or costly to abate. Examples include some emissions due high temperature heating, emissions from industrial process such as cement production and certain agricultural emissions such as the those from the breakdown of manure. Development of low-cost and effective options to remove carbon from the atmosphere that provide long-term storage of carbon provides an alternative route to elimination of the hard to abate emissions.

Carbon can be stored in the biosphere especially soils or in geological structures. Alternatively, the carbon dioxide can be converted into useful products include fuels that displace the use of fossil fuels.
